How to Make Sure You Get the Most Out Of Your Pool This Summer

Do any repairs now

If you have tiles falling off in your pool, crumbling coping, or a broken pump, then you should fix these up ASAP, so your pool is in good nick over summer. You can’t start your summer out with a pool that’s in disrepair – either it’ll prevent you from using it, or it can lead to injuries over summer. Fix up everything that needs fixing in spring, so you’re all good to go.

Keep it clean and in good shape

Over summer you should be maintaining your pool on an almost daily basis. This includes cleaning all debris from the pool, checking filters and cleaning systems, and checking chemical and water levels. Your pool is as much of a responsibility as it is a leisure activity and you should attend to it accordingly. For those who don’t have the time to do all this, delegate to another family member or outsource the work to a pool maintenance company.

Do some landscaping

How can you better enjoy your pool? Why not make your pool and the surrounds more inviting by following swimming pool trends? Doing some landscaping around your pool this time of year is a great way to ensure that you’ll get more use out of it over summer. You might like to think about adding shade structures so that you can lounge beside the pool without getting too hot. Maybe some seating or new plants surrounding your pool to make it look a little lusher.

Get a new barbeque

How’s the old BBQ looking, is she ready for an upgrade? Poolside barbeques are one of the delights of the Aussie summer season, so if your barbies aren’t up to scratch then maybe it’s time to invest in a new one to enjoy over the summer. There are so many different options out there when it comes to BBQs that you’re sure to find a good model for your purposes. If you’re feeling up to it, then you might even like to go with an inbuilt barbeque to fit in with your pool area.

Invite friends and family around more often

Entertaining over the summer is so much fun! It’s always great having friends and family around to share in the delights of your backyard swimming pool. If friends and family are always telling you that they are busy then why not get the kids to invite round some of their school friends or other kids from the neighbourhood? They’ll be sure to enjoy it as much as (if not more so) your kids. Your pool is a great way to help people socialise.

Add some new pool toys

If your pool toys are looking a little sad, then it might be time to take a trip down to your local pool accessories store or even do some online shopping. Don’t have a blow-up flamingo to ride around on in your pool? What are you doing! Get going! You’re behind the eight ball! Get the kids to pick out some fun new games for the pool to give your set up a bit of a freshen up. You can even get them some for Christmas present if they’re particularly elaborate toys, like a slide.

Make sure that you’re getting the most out of your pool this summer. Don’t just wait until the end of Feb before thinking to yourself, “Hmmmm probably should’ve taken better advantage of what’s in my own backyard”. With the right care and planning, you’ll find that you’re spending more time in and around the pool and really making the most of your investment – which is a winning situation all round.
